Korean Film Festival

Once a year, the Korean Film festival arrives in town and for 5 successive evenings, hundreds of people queue outside the Prince Charles Cinema, winding through Leicester Square to see FREE film screenings of the latest international Korean releases. The seats are based on a first come first serve basis (400 people max). Last year when I went, I didn't get in, since I was a bit late. This year I got in, having queued patiently for an hour (in true traditional British fashion!). This is what I saw:

Love Is A Crazy Thing

I have to admit, this is good film. Film director, Oh Seok-geun, puts you deep into the shoes of a Busan call girl/prostitute and sends you on a bit of a roller coaster (Memoirs of a Modern Korean Geisha?). At the very least, it's a sympathy movie for a low life. He uses some effective editing, especially parts with gratuitous sex and violence. You see the action, then suddenly it goes black and all you hear is the sound (moaning and groaningImage) - and just as you expect the scene to move on, you're put right back into the action.

Great cinematography. I just have to wait another year for it to come back!
