My London

Being a "Bank holiday Monday", I took a set of pictures on my way to work on the supposed holiday. Pictures shown here reflect, by far, the most pleasurable moments of my daily journey. Photos of my not-so-glamorous neighbourhood will come soon (I hope)!

Guy's Tower

This is one of the best city views I see on my way to work everyday, for the last five years at the university. Guy's Tower is a 30 floor hospital standing at 469ft above ground. On its own the building is a concrete eye-saw brick. But in the heart of the city, next to the other city towers, it looks quite impressive.

I walk past this (Tabard Gardens) everyday, overlooked by the new Tabard Square luxury apartment complex, nearing its completion. If I were to ever to stay in London (God help me!) I would get a condo in that high rise with a panoramic view.

The current panoramic view I can get, from Guy's Hospital Tower, 30th floor, showing the poorer side of London's south east. The landscape is not very impressive and that speaks volumes about the area too. The Olympics 2012 winning bid has brought a wave of fresh funding to its business and housing regeneration....

...In contrast to a view towards the richer side of the city, which needs no introduction or fresh funding. I would live there if only I were a retired Hollywood B-list celebrity, a corporate banking whore or an African war lord's spoilt son!
